Reflections on Growing my ePortfolio

I tend to make small tasks overwhelmingly complicated in my head. I can overcomplicate the steps, overthink my vision, then just feel like it's too hard to get started. When I finally just sat down and thought up taking the first step, everything else just fell into place step after step.

I weighed my options, but ultimately decided to use a Wix site since that's what my friend who just graduated from the program used. I figured it would be nice to have a friend to call on if I needed help with tech.

Once deciding my platform, I was again overwhelmed with a new and foreign technology tool to play around with. Come to the rescue, YouTube! YouTube has helped me figure out so much and is full of tutorials! For someone new to building ePortfolios, I definitely would suggest to just dive in, explore all the options, and just start experimenting with the tools. I started really simple with adding a menu to navigate the pages, then just adding simple text to the pages. Next, I could focus on playing with the aesthetics. Learning how to change the themes, backgrounds, and layouts definitely took some time, but it has been enjoyable to take something from scratch and make it my own.

Although I have added more content as I have gone through two courses, the layouts still frustrate me. The site will look incredible on my desktop, but when I pull up the site on my phone in desktop view, the images shift into the text. Being a self-proclaimed perfectionist meant I was going to stick around and mess with the layout until it looked more appealing. With the frustrations said, I still am proud to have been able to learn something new, navigate making changes a lot faster than when I started, and to have a way to share my learning with friends, colleagues, and strangers who might stumble upon my site! If you're thinking of joining the world of ePortfolios, take the plunge and go for it!
